Jeimer Candelario sent down to Triple-A Toledo, Dawel Lugo called up

After Wednesday nights game Tigers Manager Ron Gardenhire and the Tigers announced that Jeimer Candelario will be sent down to the minors (Triple-A Toledo) and in a corresponding move today, Dawel Lugo has been called up to Detroit.

 
Following tonight’s game, the Tigers optioned INF Jeimer Candelario to Triple A Toledo. A corresponding roster move will be made prior to tomorrow’s game.

This season Candelario has struggled at the plate batting .192/.285/.288 with 9 extra base hits (6 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs) and 9 RBI. Candelario will report to the Tigers Triple-A affiliate Toledo Mudhens.

Lugo is set to replace Candelario. This season with the Mudhens Lugo is batting .341/.393/.468 with 11 extra base hits (8 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs) with 14 RBI.
