After two weeks into the NFL season, there are a lot of surprise players who are outplaying their veteran counterparts, or huge injuries that could set you without a star player for a few weeks. Here are some options to replace them that could be on your waiver wire.
1. Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans (Available in 80% of leagues)
The backfield looks awfully crowded in New Orleans with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson fighting for a starting spot. But the one who is beating both of them right now is rookie Alvin Kamara. He is a great flex player, especially in a PPR league, as he fills the Darren Sproles position the Saints offense loves.
2. Chris Carson, RB, Seattle Seahawks (Available in 90% of leagues)
Eddie Lacy is on his way out of Seattle after being a healthy scratch last week, Thomas Rawls is often injured, it looks like the new starter in Seattle is Chris Carson. Last week against the 49ers, Carson was in the backfield 51 of 82 snaps. He could be that sneaky play that Rawls and Prosise has been in the past couple years.
3. Devin Funchess, WR, Carolina Panthers (Available in 95% of leagues)
Entering his third year, Funchess hasn't seemed able to get any kind of momentum in his NFL career. And starting the season, it looked like he wouldn't have any fantasy value being the 4th target for Cam Newton. But now, after a Greg Olson injury, Funchess may get a few more looks, after catching 4 of 7 targets last week.
4. Ben Watson, TE, Baltimore Ravens (Available in 99% of leagues)
The 13 year veteran caught all eight of his targets last week against the Browns, and looked to be a huge target for Flacco. With injury worries with Greg Olson, Jordan Reed, and Gronk, look toward Baltimore to fill those needs.
