NBA free agency officially began at 12:00 AM midnight, and the LeBron James sweepstakes is underway.
While the Detroit Pistons are not expected to make a run at any of the superstar free agents (James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh), there are plenty of available players that can help Stan Van Gundy right away.
So away with the rumors!
League sources tell PBT that Isaiah Thomas is drawing interest from the Pistons, Mavs, Lakers, Heat and Suns.— Aaron Bruski (@aaronbruski) July 1, 2014
Pistons have showed the most interest so far, talks have started in the 3/24M range. Other talks ranging from $6-7M per year.— Aaron Bruski (@aaronbruski) July 1, 2014
Isaiah Thomas, no relation to Pistons great Isiah Thomas, averaged about 20 PPG and 6 APG with the Sacramento Kings last season. Thomas is a restricted free agent, meaning the Pistons and Kings might think about a sign and trade.
The sign and trade could include Pistons big man Greg Monroe, also a restricted free agent.
Speaking of Greg Monroe, the Pistons extended him a $5.5 million offer sheet on Monday. Reports are that the Pistons would likely match just about any offer made for Monroe, but there is a possibility he, too, is involved in a sign and trade.
Atlanta Hawks are one team that keep coming up as a potential suitor for Greg Monroe as he becomes restricted free agent at 12:01 AM— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 1, 2014
Stein also reported that the Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers are also intrigued by Monroe. The Magic do not seem to be a likely landing spot, because they won't be willing to part with Victor Oladipo, Aaron Gordon or Elfrid Payton. Take a look at the Magic roster, and they don't have much else.
And one more name for Detroit Pistons fans. It seems as if they are interested in free agent wing Trevor Ariza. The Washington Wizards have made it known they want Ariza back, and there are plenty of other teams interested.
Trevor Ariza is receiving interest from a ton of teams after big season. I've heard HOU, DAL, LAL, LAC, CLE, TOR, PHX, DET, MIA interested.— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) July 1, 2014
Ariza averaged about 14 PPG and 6 RPG for the Wizards, and shot a career-high 40.7% from 3-point range.

UPDATE 10:51 AM
If RFA Greg Monroe gets max offer, Pistons will have a tough call to make. Sign-and-trade a "high possibility" in that case, source says.— Ken Berger (@KBergCBS) July 1, 2014
UPDATE 11:21 AM
Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News reported that Anthony Morrow will visit the Pistons. Morrow shot 45.1% from behind the 3-point line last season, good for third in the NBA behind Kyle Korver and Mike Miller.
